CNC Machinist

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Performs the following duties :

• Studies job orders or interprets blueprints to determine machining operations to be performed.
• Operates and sets up machines to perform turning, milling, drilling, boring, planning, honing, broaching and grinding.
• Verifies dimensions of parts machines using precision measuring instruments.
• Collects and transmits information to upper levels for decision making.
• Failure to maintain machinery could lead to serious machine damage and loss.
• Operates one or more light or heavy metalworking machines such as mills, power presses, saws, drills and a punch press.
• Operates machines or equipment which weld, solder, bolt or screw metal parts together.
• Checks products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications.
• May select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist.
• May clean or lubricate equipment and replace parts as required.
• Collects and transmits information for upper level decision making.
• Sets up and maintains job related equipment on a limited basis.
• Position requires flexibility to perform various tasks in various departments
• Other duties as business requires

SKILLS

• Two years of post secondary education is required with a minimum of 1-2 years experience in a similar field.
• Interpersonal skills are essential to deal with a variety of limited contacts.
• Routine decision making skills will be required to work within a team atmosphere.
• Incumbent must possess a co-ordination of movement and manual skills.

EFFORT REQUIRED

• Position is significantly restricted in movement because of workstation attachment and concentration level required on job tasks.
• Job requires regular lifting and some repetitive motion.
• Costs are associated with any errors made in this position.
• Position involves regular afternoon or evening work.
• Incumbent has no on-going contact with persons outside plant.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work will be interrupted by co-workers, management, etc.
• Position exposes individual to some health risks related to environmental condition, hazards related to physical conditions and moving machinery.

Salary : $25.00-$35.00 per hour

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• No weekends

Experience :

• Haas Mill/Lathe: 5 years (required)
• Multiple axis machining: 5 years (required)
