Our Grande Prairie Timberlands operation is hiring a Silviculture Manager. Based out of Grande Prairie, Alberta, this position will lead a team of Silviculture Foresters and contractors and will report to the Grande Prairie Timberlands Manager.

Key Functions :

• Be a safety role model and a safety ambassador, both internally and externally to Weyerhaeuser.
• Develop and implement all annual silviculture programs for Grande Prairie Timberlands.
• Ensure compliance with Provincial and Federal safety regulations and environmental requirements.
• Ensure the Silviculture team has all the processes, tools, and information to carry out their responsibilities.
• Establish linkages between policy, forest management planning, yield curves and practices.
• Develop plans that provide rationale for silviculture investments and impact on AAC.
• Establish, maintain, and leverage relationships with other Silviculture resources within Weyerhaeuser including US Strategy and Technology teams.
• In collaboration with other Weyerhaeuser Strategic resources, ensure deployment of FRIAA and TDA funds are addressing wood supply and wood security challenges facing Grande Prairie Timberlands.
• In collaboration with Weyerhaeuser tree improvement experts, ensure strong business case for all tree improvement activities and ensure alignment with Grande Prairie Timberlands strategic direction.
• Prepare, track, and report on annual budgets.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Forestry/Environmental Sciences
• 5+ years operational Silviculture experience
• Committed to growing the technical and health/safety skills and discover new and better ways to deliver solutions.
• Strong ability to proactively mentor and develop others in growing technical and professional abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively negotiate with other teams to create mutually beneficial solutions.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, advisory, and influencing skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to all levels of leaders and stakeholders
