QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Medical Office Assistant certificate or graduate from an equivalent program
  • Medical terminology certificate.
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience working in a mental health setting (outpatient mental health, inpatient mental health, community mental health agency/organization, psychiatrists office)
  • Working knowledge of medical office procedures and office equipment, i.e. photocopiers, fax, voice mail systems etc.
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 50 words per minute Knowledgeable and proficient with Meditech and Meditech Scheduling System
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with mental health clients, their families and community agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, terminology and medications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health legislation (MHA, forms, privacy)
  • Knowledge of Recovery based care and the inter-professional team practice.
  • Ability to multi task in a high paced, high volume clinic setting.
  • Evidence of effective customer service, interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Consistent and regular attendance required.
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
