Job Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints and project specifications to determine material and tool requirements.
  • Use a range of hand and power tools to measure, cut, shape, join, and install various types of building materials, including lumber, drywall, and concrete.
  • Plan and supervise the construction of wooden structures, such as walls, roofs, and decks, ensuring that they meet building codes and standards for quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and other tradespeople to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the desired standard.
  • Train and mentor apprentices, providing guidance on technical skills and safety procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Red Seal certification in carpentry, as well as at least seven years of experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools, including the ability to interpret technical drawings and calculate material requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with clients, architects, and other tradespeople.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with experience supervising and training apprentices or other carpenters.
  • A commitment to safety, including the ability to follow safety protocols and procedures and ensure that work sites are clean and hazard-free.
