Service Estimator

What you will be doing in the role of Service Estimator : Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Generate service cost estimations for solution development and service proposals
  • Prepare quotations or provide details to the Inside Sales team or Service Coordinator team on cost estimates so they can prepare quotations.
  • Identify labour, material and time requirements by studying proposals, specifications and other related project documentation. Working with internal and external customers to document clarifications, assumptions and exclusions.
  • Find and work with external suppliers to capture both material cost and sub-contracted labour cost to be included with estimate.
  • Develop estimation tools and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy of estimates, capturing knowledge of SME’s from service, engineering and sub-contractors and validating with past performance data
  • Maintain a cost database from completed projects, services and other sources and regularly updating estimation models.
  • Computes cost by analyzing labour, materials and time requirements and ensuring profitability targets are aligned with estimates.
  • Present prepared estimates by assembling and displaying the cost estimates alongside descriptive information so the customer can see the value in the data

Knowledge and skills required for the role :

  • University Degree or College Diploma
  • Three to Ten (3-10) years of experience in engineering, industrial trade or field service role
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment and processes or construction trades
  • Skilled verbal and written communicator, able to understand and convey technical requirements
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively develop tools and processes to support increased efficiency and accuracy
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and processes as they arise
