HR/health and Safety Generalist (3 Yrs Min Exp Req)

ETSM Technical Services Ltd. has an immediate opening for a full time, permanent HR/Health and Safety Generalist.

We are a custom manufacturing facility in Guelph and have been family owned and operated since 1985.

Responsibilities :

  • Payroll administration including payroll processing, reporting, payroll tax remittances, ROE’s, preparation of monthly and annual EHT, WSIB remittances and T4’s
  • Timecard data entry
  • Maintain all attendance and payroll records and employee files for approx. 50-55 employees
  • Group benefits administration to include setting up new employees, reporting changes, long term disability claims and communicating benefit information to new and existing employees
  • Recruit for all positions, new employee on-boarding, write and place advertisements
  • Create offers of employment for new employees, facilitate all new hire paperwork
  • Maintain job duty descriptions and assign wage ranges for each position
  • Conduct exit interviews
  • Organize, distribute and oversee annual performance evaluations
  • Manage first aid logs, WSIB claims and the return to work process
  • Develop, implement and maintain HR and H&S policies, handbook and communications
  • Initiate any disciplinary write ups
  • Organize all HR, H&S and job-related training
  • Some mediation of disputes
  • Conduct necessary HR or H&S investigations and implement any corrective action
  • Lead the H&S program, coordinate and facilitate meetings and conduct regular on-site inspections, sit on the JHSC
  • All compliance to include but not limited to environmental reporting, AODA reporting and hazardous waste management
  • Respond to employee requests and questions
  • Other duties as required

Specific Skills, Abilities or Aptitudes :

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management/Health and Safety
  • Minimum 3-5 years of HR/H&S experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Uphold strict confidentiality expectations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Have a passion for working with people and be able to communicate with respect and compassion
  • Knowledge of employment law, H&S law and compliance requirements
  • Must be able to multi-task priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
  • A self-starter with good problem solving skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Advanced communication in English
