Warehouse Team Lead - New Hamburg - 9:00 am - 6:30 pm M-F

General Accountability

The Team Lead will assist the Distribution Manager to provide day-to-day leadership of the Shipping/Receiving personnel, as well as complete daily shipping and receiving activities and active manual labour.

In conjunction with the other Team Lead, this hands-on role will ensure the safe, efficient, accurate and timely shipping, receiving, picking and storage of materials including mechanical and manual material handling. The hours of work are 9 am - 6:30 pm Monday to Friday with overtime as required.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists with ensuring that productivity, quality assurance and customer-service standards are met.
  • Assists with interviewing, training and coaching of new and current team members.
  • Supports Distribution Manager with the goal to strive for optimum use of storage areas by maximizing racking and floor space, adhering to storage design principles, and optimizing technology.
  • Assists with performance management activities with Distribution Manager as required.
  • Provides recommendations for continuous improvement activities.
  • Actively promotes teamwork, comradely and positivity throughout the warehouse.
  • Remains vigilant at all times and holds team members accountable for fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Ensures the highest levels of health and safety are maintained while very actively supports, monitors and ensures team lead adherence to a tidy and organized warehouse.
  • Frequent manually picking of 25 kg bags of product to meet order requirements.
  • Operation of the counterbalance forklift and pump truck for loading and/or of trailers/trucks.
  • Assisting with removal and placement of product into warehouse locations with the use of the forklift.
  • Accurate scanning products in and out of the RF - Warehouse Management Scanning System.
  • Accurate and timely picking of orders, processing receipts, shipments, consolidation and put away tasks and systems transactions.
  • Safe movement of materials within the warehouse utilizing forklift equipment.
  • Ensure optimal, organized and safe storing of products within the warehouse.
  • Practice safe work habits and good housekeeping at all times.
  • May be required from time to time to work a Saturday or Sunday, but very infrequent.

Working Conditions :

  • Fast paced, stressful and physically demanding work.
  • Overtime sometimes required.
  • Warehouse environment with extreme temperatures.
  • Repetitive manual lifting for frequent order picking of 25kg bags of product.
  • Safe operation of counterbalance forklift for material handling.

Requirements :

  • Minimum 2 years of warehouse supervisory experience in shipping/receiving.
  • At least 2 years of counterbalance forklift experience.
  • At least 2 years warehouse experience.
  • Previous RF scanning experience a plus.
  • Accuracy and eye for detail are a must.
  • Be able to work independently with mínimal guidance.
  • Physical strength to endure repetitive manual lifting of 25 kg bags a must.
