Job Title : Assistant Production Supervisor Nights Department : Production

Reports to : Production Supervisor Location :North/South Building

JOB SUMMARY : The Assistant Production Supervisor achieves production and quality targets by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing ECL systems, policies, procedures in accordance with applicable legislation.

RESPONSIBILITIES : ž Oversees and improves the quality of daily production.

ž Ensures adherence to schedule and communicates any necessary changes shiftly.

ž Monitors and reports production rates, performance, and progress shiftly.

ž Communicates daily/weekly/monthly objectives to employees.

ž Organizes workflow by assigning responsibilities to employees at shift start as well as any task changes throughout the shift.

ž Sets up and stages next jobs for the operators as per requirements.

ž Manages process flow to alleviate bottlenecks.

ž Monitors employees to ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to QCP, work instructions, and specifications.

ž Ensures safe use of equipment and schedules regular maintenance with Maintenance Dept.

ž Confers with Production Manager, Engineering Lead, or Sales & Ops. Team when making decisions on more intricate problems.

ž Approves time and expense (T&E) shiftly - uses information to audit standards, targets, employee efficiency, and effectiveness

ž Audits order line completion in Epicor daily.

ž Improves material and labour variances as they are brought to attention by the Production Manager.

ž Works hand in hand with Quality and Engineering Depts. to troubleshoot issues on the floor.

ž Opens and closes all buildings.

ž May be required to operate equipment if necessary to meet required production demands.

ž Attends DPS meetings on his/her shift.

ž Attends Supervisor meetings weekly.

ž Required to attend safety and supervisory training course and upgrade as needed.

ž Creates requests for cross-training, back-up training, and any new policies or procedures.

ž Conducts employee performance appraisals.

ž Investigates employee complaints and concerns.

ž Resolves employee issues and brings to the attention of the Production Manager and President if necessary.

ž Observes employee performance/behavior and rewards/disciplines when necessary.

ž Approves/declines vacation requests.

ž Approves/declines employee absenteeism forms.

ž Performs regular safety inspections and safety talks with employees.

ž Attends to and oversees First Aid Injuries and Hazard Reporting.

ž Leads Accident Investigations.

ž Works on production floor processing parts

ž Other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES : ž Must possess a grade 12 diploma or equivalent

ž 2+ years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment preferred.

ž Able to coordinate, manage and evaluate a production shift (approximately 15-25 employees)

ž Strong analytical/problem solving skills

ž Ability to exercise independent judgment

ž Significant use of memory

ž Must be able to read, write and speak English

ž Must possess basic math skills

ž Possess basic level computer skills

ž Able to input data into reporting system

ž Able to interpret and develop Excel spread sheets

ž Able to develop Word documents and use the Internet and Microsoft Outlook

ž Able to manage confidential information

ž Must hold a valid G license

ž Must be able to stand for 12 hour shift

ž Able to lift about 50lbs

ž Must be able to wear respirator

Salary : $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
