CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA

Safe Medical Care Learning is central to the CMPA’s vision of being a learning organization. The department’s core activities include learning strategy, design, development & delivery, event management and administrative support. Safe Medical Care Learning incorporates needs assessment, design, delivery, and evaluation within a continuous improvement cycle to deliver learning to members and CMPA employees. Digital learning products contribute to a blended learning approach and are readily accessible through the modernization of the CMPA website. The Learning group utilizes state of the art pedagogical science to share knowledge and improve practice of members and their teams while also contributing to the internal learning needs of CMPA staff, leaders, and governance through internal collaborations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Audio Visual Specialist provides audio visual management services to Dow’s Lake Court (DLC) clients, including tenants, outside organizations, and CMPA’s employees, councillors, and members to enable effective and efficient use of DLC’s and CMPA’s audio visual (A/V) infrastructure. This position includes conducting Audio Visual requirement assessments and providing recommendations, coordination, and installation support, for various in-person and virtual events including education sessions to members, cross-country in person member related events (travel may be required), staff related events, videoconferences, as well as corporate and governance events.

POSITION ACTIVITIES

AV Manage ment S ervices

  • Provides technical support and ensures appropriate maintenance and repair of the equipment at DLC (Conference Centre and all CMPA meeting rooms)
  • Assess technology requirements and forecast 3 year budget plan for equipment repairs and replacements (includes meeting rooms and offsite meeting equipment)
  • Provides recommendations for the purchase of AV supplies and equipment and brings forward AV recommendations to support future budgeting activities
  • Coordinate and assist with upgrade projects, temporary and/or permanent installations and 3rd party installations
  • Create and maintain lifecycle program, including inventory management of all audio visual assets
  • Remains current on industry standards, researches and makes recommendations on equipment, systems, and software as new technology emerges.
  • Troubleshoots technical issues during events or meetings and facilitates an immediate solution addressing presentation hardware and/or network connectivity.
  • Creates and maintains training guides and video tutorials for CMPA staff and Council members on proper use of A/V technology
  • Provide direct virtual support to all CMPA users’ as well as Council members and externals guests
  • Provide advice and guidance related to meetings/events and any other technical queries

AV Coordination and Operation

  • Responds to requests for A/V assistance including presentation assistance requests.
  • Assess AV requirements and obtain quotes and contracts from third party vendors as required for internal and external events
  • Coordinate shipping of CMPA owned equipment to offsite venues
  • Complete set up, operation, and tear down of rental and CMPA owned A/V equipment at internal and external events.
  • Record and edit digital assets such as videos, presentations, and audio files
  • Manages and directs a complicated audio visual tech desk during events
  • Liaises with internal clients and external stakeholders ensuring meeting room requirement technologies are sufficient and optimal for the event.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Two-year diploma or certificate program at College or CÉGEP
  • 6-8 years of relevant event audio visual management experience
  • Strong experience with audio visual, interpretation and integrated systems
  • Strong experience with various portable audio-visual equipment (video conferencing systems and web based platforms, projectors, digital microphones, audience response systems, switchers, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of videoconference and virtual platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom
  • Experience with digital signage software such as Novisign, etc. is an asset
  • Experience and technical knowledge of computer systems and networks
  • Experience and knowledge in editing digital assets such as videos, presentations, and audio files

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong desktop computer hardware and software skills, including proficiency with PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to take initiative, use sound judgement, and remain professional while attending to multiple priorities
  • Ability to interact in a professional and courteous manner with a variety of internal and external parties
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills particularly in a technical service environment
