MISSION Reporting to the Corporate Compliance Manager, the QC Inspector will be responsible for the validation of all operational process outputs, inspecting incoming material, in process, and final product assemblies, inspecting documented records, and recording all findings within quality control records.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The QC Inspector will be responsible for the overall outgoing quality of all OSI Maritime Systems Products, incoming materials, including manufacturing test inspections, carried out in timely manner, based on employee’s ability to judge and prioritize their work to achieve optimal production scheduling, a high level of autonomy is expected
  • May make recommendations for suitable remedies and solutions for non-conformities to ensure business objectives can be met.
  • Quality inspections of all incoming goods to OSI inventory, ability to perform functional product validations when required, analyze production, verify bill of materials, quality records, certificates from suppliers, test records for completeness and accuracy
  • May be asked to observe objectively and validate the accurate assessment of complex and detailed factory acceptance test events on behalf of the customer
  • Final QC inspections performed on all outgoing systems and hardware, which may include detailed objective evidence reports
  • Creates accurate inspection records, and documents evidence of all inspections performed accurately within QC databases
  • High attention to detail and mechanical aptitude, referring to engineering drawings, product datasheets, product descriptions, across a wide variety of product types, this includes complex data systems access and usage (PDXpert / PLM)
  • May be tasked to support physical configuration and verification audits if needed
  • Will participate in MRB meetings, conduct quarantine activities on non-conforming products and materials, including initiating preventative and corrective action process as required
  • May assist in OSI process development, process documentation updates, document creation, and process efficiencies will be expected deliverables
  • Will initiate preventative and corrective action process as required
  • May determine defects, and may make decisions on non-conforming materials, and will otherwise consult with project management or senior staff.
  • Ability to travel to global supplier sites or customer sites to perform autonomous assessments of quality, testing and analysis.
  • Other activities as directed by the Manager.

KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recognized university degree, technical diploma, or technologist with preference given to direct experience in Quality Assurance, QC Inspections, Methods or Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Manufacturing, Aeronautics, Automotive or related industry.
  • Direct experience in Marine, Shipbuilding or Military industries is highly beneficial
  • 5+ years’ experience in a QC inspection role, Quality Assurance, or equivalent
  • QMS auditor’s certification to ISO 9001:2015 or similar ISO series is required, high level of understanding of quality management systems auditing, or other quality assurance fundamentals knowledge being key asset, including support of QMS documentation, modification, record preservation, & root cause analysis
  • Key Skills: Vision, attention to detail, highly self-motivated, judgement, inspection, proofreading, logic & reasoning, analytical skills, communication skills, interpersonal aptitude, process analysis, objectivity, must be able to read and interpret complex hardware design drawings
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to: Identify defects, problems, and communicate QC results, create records of inspection
  • Patient, organized, and methodical, excellent team player
  • Must be passionate about quality
  • High level written and verbal communication is required (In English)
  • Highly computer literate, and experience with MS-office suite, Adobe, SharePoint, JIRA, PDXpert, EPICOR
  • Able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearances to work in Defense company.
