Assistant Operations Manager

We are looking to hire an experienced assistant operations manager for a 236-suite residential community in the South Burnaby area. The assistant operations manager will be a part of three member team and is responsible for all property operational and management functions. The assistant operations manager will report directly to the operational manager. All work shall be completed in a manner consistent with the Mayfair Complex guidelines.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Personal relations; maintain a good and equal relationship with residents, team members,

Strata Council and property manager;

  • Liaising and coordinating with trades and management team;
  • Proficient in using security monitoring systems;
  • May direct and supervise approved repair and maintenance contractors, as required;
  • Perform required pool and hot tub health and quality inspections;
  • Perform pool and hot tub cleaning and required testing as per Fraser Health guidelines;
  • Conduct move in and move out inspections;
  • Carry out minor repair and maintenance issues in buildings or arrange for contractors to

repair;

  • Respond to emergencies which occur during, and occasionally outside of regular work

hours;

  • Housekeeping duties of both interior and exterior common areas of the building;
  • Move garbage and recycling bins in and out of the garbage rooms, as required;
  • Conduct inspections throughout the buildings and report any damages or items to be

address to the operations manager;

  • Keep exterior grounds clean by picking up any garbage and sweeping walkways and

driveways. This includes salting and removing snow, as required;

  • Be accessible by cellular phone when out of the office;
  • Serve notices and documents as required in compliance with the by-laws;
  • Provide status updates to operations manager, or Strata Council, as required;
  • Other duties as required from time to time.

Working Conditions :

  • Hours are typically 8:00am to 5:00pm, with one 1-hour lunch-break, 5 consecutive days a week, and on call in the evenings for emergencies;
  • A work cell phone will be provided;
  • This position does not include accommodation.

Benefits :

  • Competitive salary - $50,000 - $60,000 per year.

Qualifications :

  • Experience or related experience in a similar role for building operations and management;
  • Good working knowledge of building management and maintenance requirements;
  • Pool operator certificate or willingness to obtain it within 3 months of starting;
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems;
  • Good working knowledge of computers, security monitoring systems and word processing, specifically Microsoft Office;
  • Basic understanding of the Residential Tenancy Act;
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently, with limited direction;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member;
  • Proven handyman skills are an asset;
  • Ability to meet routine physical demands;
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
