Position Summary : We are currently looking for a skilled machine operator and Class one Driver to operate various pieces of heavy equipment including tandem trucks, telehandlers, loader(s), compost turning equipment, wood grinder(s), and various other pieces of machinery. The Operations Professional will report to the Operations Manager and is responsible for safe and efficient operation of the facility and deliveries from our clients worksite. The Operations Professional position will be responsible and accountable for all materials that can and cannot be accepted at the facility, maintain and operate a safe, clean and friendly work environment for both internal and external clients, assisting clients with logistics, and creating client specific solutions as needed.

The facility is located in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.

Responsibilities :

  • Work Safely
  • Know, understand and follow the Standard Operating Procedures of the company. From time to time, you will also help develop and make changes to the current Standard Operating procedures for the facility
  • Understand the regulatory and operating Approvals as they pertain to our facility including materials that can and cannot be accepted at the facility
  • Communicate with the customer as necessary and maintain good client relations
  • Operate and maintain the facility equipment as per SJP/SOP’s and maintenance schedule
  • Possess the ability to issue Safe Work Permits as required for 3rd party contractors
  • Hazard ID and Incident identification and reporting
  • Know, understand and follow our Health and Safety Manual
  • Building and personally demonstrating high performance team culture across Catapult;
  • Upholding, through personal actions, Catapult’s values

Qualifications : Technical :

  • Class 1 driver’s license
  • Qualified to operate heavy equipment
  • At least 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent required
  • Mechanical and welding experience would be considered an asset

Interpersonal :

  • Self-motivated and the ability to function and excel with limited supervision and in a team environment;
  • Physically capable to lift 50lbs and able to climb in and out of trucks safely;
  • Ability to work shift work including weekends and holidays and be on call as required;
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills;
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment that is undergoing integration and change;
