The Role: We are currently looking for a Quality Control Inspector to join our growing team in Fabrication Division! This position reports to the Senior Quality Technician and is based at our Passmore facility in Scarborough. The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting products throughout the manufacturing cycle to ensure compliance with the contract specifications, maintaining quality standards by approving incoming materials, First Article Inspection, First Off, In-process inspection and performing Dock Audits.

Friday to Monday :7:00PM - 7:00AM In November

Monday to Friday 7:00am - 4:30pm Regular

Duties/Responsibilities :

  • Possess knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality system
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Performs First Article Inspection, Inspection Quality Audits, equipment product inspection and Dock Audits
  • Approves First Off, In-process and Final Inspection by conforming to specifications
  • Identify nonconforming material and initiate Nonconforming Material Report (NCR)
  • Create accurate Inspection logbooks
  • Ensure parts that have been inspected and “quality approved” meet customer specifications
  • Provide input for addressing internal and external CARs
  • Provide input for drawings reviews regarding dimensions and tolerances
  • Provide training for operators regarding applicable Inspection methods
  • Completion of inspection reports on timely manner
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Continuous review of manufacturing processes and provide process improvements suggestions
  • Communicate the importance of producing a quality product
  • Provide feedback to operators and production supervisors regarding any Quality concerns
  • Communicate Quality Alerts when applicable
  • Provide feedback to testing personnel to generate improvement in run-off part quality before equipment “Sign-off.”
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams at all levels
  • Be courteous and helpful when dealing with customers, suppliers and with co-workers
  • Maintain knowledge of and follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and policies as outlined in the Company Health and Safety Manual
  • Support compliance with all company rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook

Education, Knowledge and Skill Requirements :

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret welding drawings
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook Advanced
  • Interpersonal skills to work in a team environment to achieve goals and results
  • Good written, oral and listening skills to clearly convey and receive technical information
  • Detail and results oriented
  • Time management and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to read and operate various quality measuring instruments: Micrometer, Vernier, Caliper, Height gauges, Protractor, Feeler gauge, Bore gauge and all other basic inspection tools
  • Manually able to lift objects up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to stand or walk for most of the day
