Location:   Various locations across  British Columbia As a Building Official/Chief Building Official (CBO), you will oversee and ensure the compliance of building projects with local codes, regulations, and standards. Your role will be crucial in safeguarding public safety and maintaining the structural integrity of buildings within the jurisdiction. Key Responsibilities: Review and approve building plans, ensuring compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. Conduct inspections of construction sites and completed structures to verify adherence to approved plans and regulations. Provide guidance and technical support to architects, engineers, and contractors throughout the construction process. Address and resolve issues or violations related to building codes and standards. Prepare detailed reports on inspections, code compliance, and enforcement actions. Stay current with changes in building codes, regulations, and industry best practices. Act as a liaison between the public, construction professionals, and municipal authorities. Lead and supervise a team of building officials, ensuring effective and efficient performance. Requirements Relevant certification or diploma in Building Inspection, Construction Management, or a related field. Extensive experience in building inspection, construction, or a related role, with a proven track record in compliance and enforcement. In-depth knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders. Leadership experience with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
